Just got paid, Friday night
Yeah big whoop - it’s all going towards bills. I’m not so sure I’m digging this weekly pay thing. I’m not a saver, I’m a spender. I need to be able to pay rent, pay bills, buy random shit, get a pedicure, buy gas, buy groceries, buy M random shit, buy gas… and still have money left over.
This weekly shit? Pay bills. Buy gas. The end. Ugh!
I guess it would be nice to be paid weekly if R and I pooled our income but with him away, I can’t really justify demanding he give me money. Can I? Oh, I will anyway. I’ll try, a girl needs her pedicures.
* You know R and I almost broke up over money once? It was the stupidest fight I ever picked. And that includes any and all that had to do with the J-Word, his perfect ex.
But back to pooling money and other things marriage-like, yesterday on the phone, I told R I changed my mind about getting married. NOT that he’s even proposed but this is a trap, see, and he fell right in it.
R (a bit incredulous): What made you change your mind about that?!
Me: I decided that I want to have a nice, small but nice, wedding in San Diego and until we can afford to do that, I don’t want to get married.
R (still incredulous): Wow. That’s so practical of you.
Me: But I guess I have to wait until you ask me first anyway.
R: Traditionally, that’s how it usually goes.
Me: Or I could just plan the wedding and see if you show up.
Did I ever tell you about the time I went to a wedding and that’s all anyone could talk about at the reception? That the bride just went ahead and planned the wedding and the groom bumbled along with it? She didn’t even get her engagement ring til the invitiations for the wedding were already sent.
I mean, you have to understand that the bride is known for being bossy as hell and a huge loud mouth. But still. First of all, I don’t know that I’d want to marry a guy that would allow himself to be bamboozled into marriage and secondly, I certainly wouldn’t want that to be the gossip at the wedding.
Say my ass looks fat in my wedding dress, say my bridesmaids look like sluts, say the cake tastes like sawdust but by God, don’t say R is there for any other reason than his undying love, devotion and affection for me.
So yeah. I think we’re going to wait to get married.
Happy Friday, folks!
P.S. I’m taking Corey Ann’s advice and buying a box of booze to wile the weekend away. Might even do my own toes. Man do I ever look forward to sitting on my ass and not doing a damn thing. T.G.I.F!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHA!!!!
Plan a wedding and see if he shows up - I love it!
You make me sad though - I thought everything would be laughter and lollipops if I got paid every week.

Love weekly pay. You’ll get used to it. Trust me! One week pay bills, next week spend $$, following week save, fourth week do all of the above again. Well that’s how I do it! LOL
I did my own toes before going to PR. That is BIG! Plan on doing it again this weekend. Oh and get the booze! I’m getting another one of that wonderful wine that I have yet to give you the name to.
My weekend = drunk cleaning, painting & organizing. or just drunk.

Well there’s an idea. Just start that planning and see if he shows up. Ha ha! I like your version best :-)

Hehe, bet R’s pleased he’s off the hook for a little longer ;) It’s totally the right idea though, demanding a ring or planning the wedding without a ring is not going to make for a long, happy marriage! I’m on fortnightly pay, I think that’s best, you can pay big chunks of bills and feel like you’re getting somewhere, and there’s only a couple of days to wait if you run out of money! Jo’s got the right idea, I used to split everything into tiny little bits and pay everything every week, try paying bigger chunks once a month, just split them so that each week you’re paying 1-2 major things, and cycle them around the month. I could never live month to month… I’m way to undisciplined for that, it’s great to get the bills outta the way and know you’re done for the month, but the leftover wouldn’t last! Hope you have a great weekend :-)

I bet it would be a lot harder to budget getting paid weekly.
I can’t believe a bride literally trapped the groom into showing up and marrying her. I wonder if it haunts her now that maybe he really didn’t want to marry her in the first place?

I hate paying partial on a bill! BIG NO NO! Unless I HAVE TO! I always pay everything in full because if I don’t i’ll never get caught up.
spreadsheets do help a great deal!

You’d be surprised how many people (brides) DO that! It’s really amazing to me. Chris is the one that started all the wedding talk and we never really had that *shock* MARRY ME!? thing going. He just started telling people “when we get married…” and “when we get married on the beach” before he ever said anything TO ME. LOL so I guess he was kind of like that bride in a way. There are TONS of people on the knot that have everything booked “planning” on the ring. CRAZY! Me being a photog - I would NEVER book unless I know it’s a real deal but people and vendors are morons. Oh and I’m your photographer so you know ha ha.
Did you ever find any boxed goodness? I had the Cosmo one on Saturday (Convienent Food Mart had it) and it was GOOD!

I asked R and he said sure, however when I have no idea and really just never talked about it much after that. If we do great if we don’t that’s fine too. In some form and fashion I’ve sort of given up on the fact I ever will get married. I rather live life and enjoy everything I have. I mean I already but the cart before the horse ;)
